New Rink Vital

News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

Flamborough's desperate need of a new ice rink has finally triggered some action. I am very grateful to hear that the design and building plans for a new twin pad arena to be built in the Clappison's Corners area have been put into motion.

After playing minor hockey in Flamborough, I discovered first-hand how important a new rink would be for Flamborough. From waking up bright and early - or should I say dark and early - to practice before school, to driving far and wide to other arenas or simply being limited to ice time once or twice a week, I became aware of the lack of adequate facilities. Also, the many housing developments that have sprouted up over the last couple of years in the area have created further demand on the hockey front.

For these reasons, the plans for a new rink are vital for our hockey community. Although my hockey days in Flamborough are over, I am glad to see that hockey is still growing in the area and will no doubt develop some future stars.
