The Christmas season may seem like a red and green light in the distance to families gearing up for Hallowe'en this weekend. But once the pumpkins and witches have been put away, it will be time to pull out the tinsel and mistletoe. And, thanks to a growing number of churches and organizations, residents won't have to look far to find a good holiday-themed sale or two, to help get into the Yuletide spirit.

Following is a list of Christmas bazaars in and around Flamborough offering the best in baking, crafts, penny sales and auctions:

Beverly Hills Estates (1294 8th Concession W.) kicks off the fun this weekend, with its Craft Sale/Bazaar in the recreation hall on Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fun includes a penny sale, a quilt raffle and many vendors.

The annual Christmas Marketplace at Grace Anglican Church (157 Mill Street North) takes place on Sat. November 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A silent auction, bake sale, meat pies, caf, hand-crafted items, penny sale, and much more are offered.

Christmas Craft, Collectables and Antiques sale takes place in the new recreation centre in the Antrim Glen community (1264 Concession 8 West, Freelton) on Sat. November 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

Having wrapped up its autumn rummage sale, Christ Church Flamborough (93 Hwy. 8, Greensville) is gearing up for its Craft Sale that runs from Friday November 11 (4-9 p.m.) through Saturday November 12 (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Admission is $1 and includes babysitting, door prizes and parking. Visitors will find plenty of crafts and gifts, a country caf, deli take-out, a bake shoppe and silent auction.

On the north side of Flamborough, the Puslinch Community Centre (Aberfoyle City Road 46) is featuring its Harvest and Holly Bazaar and Lunch on Saturday, November 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The fun includes baking, deli items, crafts and Christmas decorations. Free admission and lots of free parking.

ABC Nursery School will hold its annual Christmas Bazaar at the Carlisle Community Centre (1496 Centre Rd. Carlisle) on Sat. November 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Families can enjoy a silent auction, penny sale, pictures with Santa, Kitchen Caf and more.

Millgrove United Church's Christmas Bazaar will be held at the church (370-5th Concession West) on Sat. November 12 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visit upstairs for a treasure trove of lovely attic treasures and crafts. Downstairs shop at the bake table and deli. A delicious luncheon is also available. All welcome.

St. Thomas the Apostle Church's Holly Berry Bazaar is bigger and better than ever this year - and has been extended to two days, on Saturday, November 12 (10 a.m. to 7 pm.) and Sunday November 13 (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Held in the new parish hall at 715 Centre Road, the event includes a mammoth penny sale, a cozy corner bookshop, handmade crafts, forgotten treasures, bake sale, raffles and much, much more. Everyone welcome.

There will be an auction of homemade goods at New Hope Christian Centre, 176 Hwy #8 in Greensville on Sun. November 13, at 12:30 p.m.

Strabane Church's Country Christmas bazaar, at Strabane United Church (1565 Brock Road near Concession 8 West) takes place on Sat. November 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy the famous deli, baking, silent auction, crafts and tasty snacks or a hot lunch. Fun and prizes. Proceeds to support local charities.

Don't miss Dundas Calvin Christian School's day-long Christmas market on Sat. November 19 at 542 Ofield Rd. North. Kicking off at 10 a.m. and running until 10 p.m. the festivities include crafts, fresh produce, baked goods, games and a silent auction, with a fabulous live auction starting at 6:30 p.m. Lunch and dinner will be available.

Carlisle United Church's (1432 Centre Road) Christmas in the Country takes place on November 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features knitting, crafts, Christmas decorations, fruitcakes and carrot puddings, mincemeat tarts and pies, pies and more pies. Gourmet deli, cookie hut, silent auction, kids' corner and more.

St. George United Church's Christmas Market and Luncheon takes place November 19 from10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tasty treats include baking, candy, mincemeat, deli and jellies. There will also be crafts, a winter garden booth with wreaths and bird feeders, as well as ready-made gift baskets for all ages and a kids' corner with a fish pond and surprise boxes. Delicious lunch will be available.
