Bantam AA Sabres rattle the opposition in Oakville

News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

The Minor Bantam AA Sabres traveled down Hwy. 5 to win again with a 2-1 victory over the Oakville Rangers.

The first period started in a tight checking match-up between these two rivals with Sabres goaltender Joel Thomson making four or five cross-net saves to keep Flamborough in the game.

With that inspiration, Patrick Brennan slid the first goal under the Rangers netminder, assisted by Brett Noiles and Brayden McLean. 1-0 Flamborough.

The second period was full of end-to-end action with breakaways by Justin Holmes and Roy La Chappelle but the Rangers did the only scoring, tying the game 1-1.

Sabre Sean Irving deflected the only third period goal on a power play slap shot from Jacob Hubbs (assisted by Zack Evert) to give Flamborough the 2-1 lead.

Thanks to strong fore-checking by Eric Brandt and Chris Ferguson, the Aker Kvaemer Songer, Brandt Real Estate Sabres where able to hold the lead and strengthen their record to four wins, two losses.
