PSB re-elects Morelli

A familiar face will lead the Hamilton Police Services Board this year, as city councillor Bernie Morelli was unanimously re-elected to the position of Chair of the Board.

A 10-year member of the Hamilton Police Services Board, Morelli has served as its Chair for eight years. He is also the current President of the Ontario Association of Police Services Board (OAPSB).

"The Police Services Board has a challenging agenda with a primary goal to be responsive to the needs of the community we serve," said Morelli. "We are a Police Service driven by a commitment to our citizens and with the frontline and staff of the Hamilton Police Service we will continue our work together to make our community safe for everyone."

At the same meeting, Mark Nimigan was re-elected as Vice-Chair of the Board. Nimigan has served on the Board since 2003.

The Hamilton Police Services Board is the civilian body responsible for governing the Hamilton Police Service. It works with its Chief to assure a strong and clear commitment to the provision of responsive police service to the residents of the Hamilton community.
