A Wild victory for Peewees

News Apr 12, 2007 Flamborough Review

Hockey Day in Carlisle was the scene for some thrilling final games, but one matchup stood out from the rest when the PeeWee teams hit the ice.

The Bozek Orthodontics Wild took on the Energizer Bruins in a high-scoring outing that opened up when Jacob Bota served up the first goal for the Bruins. The Wild quickly responded with a goal by Aidan Brennan, and this game was off and running in a see-saw pace - right to a 6-6 tie at the end of the third period.

Chances

Both sides had plenty of chances during the five-minute overtime period, but it came down to final seconds of sudden-death play, when the Wild's Cailean Thorton-wilson netted the winner with just 0:38 left on the clock.

Tremendous efforts by the Wild's defence Nick Addison, Matt Dickie, Dylan Thayer and Chase Gardner and forwards Matthew Smith and Lochlin Grimbleby. The Wild and Bruins put on a great display of fast-paced, sportsmanlike hockey that was a trophy game for the FHA league.
