Local shoppers to the rescue

News Apr 10, 2008 Flamborough Review

On Saturday afternoon March 22, while shopping for our Easter Dinner, I slipped on some ice in the Sobeys plaza parking lot.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who came to my assistance.

To the lady who witnessed my fall and then tried to find my husband in the parking lot, thank-you. My right foot was very obviously out of place.

The good thing about the crowd that gathered was that no one panicked and this in turn kept me calm. By the time my husband was found, eight or 10 people had stopped to assist me.

They helped me into my husband's vehicle for my trip to the hospital. I did indeed break my leg. My tibia and fibula were broken near my ankle and I was admitted to have surgery. I now have a plate, pins and screws keeping my leg together.

I hope I thanked everyone at the time but in case I didn't, I would now like to say a huge "Thanks" to everyone involved that day.
