Kick up your heels at the Y

If you're looking for a fun way to stay active this winter, dust off your dancing shoes and head for the Flamborough Family YMCA. Next Wednesday (Dec. 7) at 4 p.m. the Parkside Drive facility will open its doors to members and non-members alike, to try out a free line dancing class. Day passes will also be available, for participants who want to find out more about YMCA programs. The session will be a warm-up for the New Year, when the YMCA launches regular classes featuring line dancing as well as ballroom dancing.

"The classes are geared to seniors," said program co-ordinator Marci Huibers, noting that the regular program will include hosts, who can step in for those who need a partner.

Huibers hopes the sessions will encourage participants to check out other activities at the Y.

"They will get to experience the social aspect of the dance classes, then maybe want to try out some of the other classes," she said.

There is no charge for the line dancing class on Dec. 7, and pre-registration is not required.

For more information, call 905-690-3555.
