Bandits battle in Grand Valley League play

The Beverly Bandits Bantam Boys Rep Team continued their winning ways in recent Grand Valley League play.

Steven Bancraz recorded his first shutout of the year as Beverly defeated Embro 2-0. Taylor Jensen from Brett Ofield and Joel Blanken from Ray Gaffney accounted for the Beverly goals.

Against New Hamburg, Steven Laurence led the way with a hat trick, while Lyle Edworthy and Steven Morgenweg added singles. Dylan Campbell and Brandon Desroche had two assists each, while Ofield added a helper, in a 5-1 victory.

The Bandits followed the win with a 1-1 tie in St. George, with Ray Gaffney scoring the lone Beverly goal.

In tournament play, the Bantams traveled to Beaverton, finishing things up with a 2-1 record.

Beverly opened with a 2-0 win over Watford. Brandon Desroche and Blanken scored for the Bandits, while Kelsan Gehlert recorded the shutout.

Beverly followed up with a 3-1 victory over Georgina, with Ofield, Dylan Campbell and Nick Weaver finding the back of the net.

But the tourney ended for Beverly with a shutout by Port Carling, 4-0, who went on to win the final.

Back in regular play, the Bantams took on four teams over a 10-day stretch. First up was St. George, which managed to defeat Beverly 4-3. Blanken scored a pair of goals, while Steven Laurence added a single in the loss.

Beverly and Ayr played to a 3-3 tie, with Blanken scoring two and Laurence notching a single.

The Bandits were handed a 5-2 loss at Twin Centre, with Nick Weaver and Laurence scoring for Beverly.
