Fourteen-year-old Christian Brennan was a force to be reckoned with on the international track last week, competing at the 43rd installment of the International Children’s Games in Athens, Greece. The Waterdown sprinter and long jumper earned a gold and a silver medal.

Handpicked to compete for Team Hamilton, Christian competed in the 100-metre race and the long jump events June 24-28, where she surpassed her personal record time in track.

According to Christian’s father, Chris, she clocked a 12.38-second finish in both the preliminary and semifinal ICG races. In the finals, the Guardian Angels’ grad topped her record time, crossing the finish line in 12.28 seconds to finish first.

In long jump, Christian cleared 5.20 metres for a second-place finish.

Twenty-six delegates from Hamilton traveled to Athens last week, including 18 athletes who competed against entries from 80 countries.
