Writer misguided in assigning blame

Re: Laws must evolve with technology, Review, October 7How tragic that we all want a scapegoat for our legitimate concerns.

Such is the response I felt after reading David Searle's letter which rightly raises the criminality of killing a man for his sexual orientation.

But he then goes on to incriminate the “evangelical establishment and traditional families.” Searle knows that these are not the groups responsible for the barbaric actions he decries.

The two men who did this despicable act are neither of these. They are simply "two scheming,” hateful individuals without regard for human life.

Searle fails us all by pointing a rightly angry but misguided finger.
