The Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club is set to turn the page on an exciting new initiative at area schools designed to promote reading and literacy in youth.

The club is looking for 30 schools to participate; a direct cash donation will be given to each.

Each school will receive:

$1,000 towards new reading material

A player will visit to read to students

A visit from Bruiser

An on-ice cheque presentation ceremony at Copps Coliseum before a Bulldogs home game

Recognized on the Jumbotron as a supporter of the 'Read like a Pro' program

Each school's involvement will include purchasing 200 tickets to the game at which the cheque will be presented - the Bulldogs will cover a portion of the cost by reducing the price to the child's level of $15 each (taxes included).

The Bulldogs Hockey Club will assist with arranging the Bruiser and player visits, designing and delivering ticket order forms if required and will drop tickets off to the school.

Schools interested in participating in the 'Read Like a Pro' program must register by Friday, February 10.

A Hamilton Bulldogs representative will come by your school to answer any questions you may have or to sign you up to the program.

For more details about this program and to register your school, contact Chris Conant at the Bulldogs at 905-777-2375 or e-mail chris.conant@hamiltonbulldogs.com.
