News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

One of the first signs of spring - running maple sap - is on tap this weekend, at Mountsberg Conservation Area.

Mountsberg's Sugar Bush opens Saturday, February 25, and with the recent mild temperatures, the sap is sure to be flowing. Visitors will get the chance to explore traditional and modern methods of tapping, collecting and boiling sap to produce Canada's golden treat. In addition, guests can catch a ride on the Sugarbush Express, a horse-drawn wagon ride showcasing the forest that is cared for to ensure optimal sap production.

Of course, flapjacks drenched in pure maple syrup will be featured in the Pancake Pavilion. In addition, the Country Store offers a selection of maple products and treats.

Maple Syrup Days at Mountsberg kick off on February 25 and run on weekends, holidays and daily during the March Break (March 13 - 17).

The fun winds down on Sunday April 16. Extra special events this year include the 7th Annual Flapjack Olympics on March 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the 3rd Annual Great Easter Egg Celebration on April 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
