Waterdown artist featured at Hamilton Women's Day event

News Nov 22, 2006 Flamborough Review

Wednesday, March 8 is International Women's Day, and area women are getting set to celebrate with an environmentally-focused art exhibit at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, 123 King Street.

"Project-Onsite," organized by the Women's Centre of Hamilton, will feature a presentation by award-winning artist, V. Jane Gordon, of Waterdown.

In addition to Gordon, the programme includes an introduction by the executive director of the Women's Centre of Hamilton, as well as an art screening of "Zero Impact" with musical accompaniment by internationally acclaimed Canadian violinist Akemi Mercer. The art included in the installation is either fashioned from organic materials or materials easily removable from the site, which must remain intact - returned to its original state with no environmental consequence.

The suggested donation for the event is $20 per person.
