A post mortem conducted last Tuesday determined that an 81-year-old Westover area man died from injuries incurred when he came into contact with a tractor while working alone to clear brush from his farm.

“His injuries were consistent with his coming into contact with the tractor,” said Constable Debbie McGreal-Dinning, media relations officer with the Hamilton Police Service (HPS). She added that the post mortem findings resulted in the investigation being closed.

Police say the man, whose name was not released at the request of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene after HPS and Hamilton EMS responded to a call from the area of Westover and Safari roads around 5:35 p.m. last Monday.

Information later surfaced identifying the deceased as John Labrie.
