Environment Canada issues freezing rain, ice warning for Hamilton

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Hamilton, warning about the possibility of winter weather this week.

The agency says that around the Great Lakes, winter weather is still normal this time of year and noted a "low pressure system is expected to emerge from Colorado and affect the region Wednesday through Thursday."

Environment Canada says that could mean ice pellets and freezing rain in the Golden Horseshoe, and rain closer to Lake Erie.

"Motorists should be prepared for a return to hazardous winter driving conditions this week, especially in areas that receive freezing rain or snow."

The agency says to report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet with the #ONStorm hashtag.
