Flamborough Chamber of Commerce Awards to be broadcast this weekend

The Flamborough Chamber of Commerce celebrated the very best in corporate excellence and community service at its Outstanding Business Awards gala April 1 at African Lion Safari.

The sold-out event was sponsored by Hamilton Economic Development, Cogeco, Enbridge, Harveys/Swiss Chalet Beckett Lowden Read, LLP, Wilkinson Heavy Precast Ltd., Lafarge, West Jet and Waterdown Collision.

Emceed by Nicole Martin of CHCH, the gala honoured 101-year-old Pat McNally with the Town of Flamborough Award. The McNally family accepted on his behalf.

Jim Wilkinson of Wilkinson Heavy Precast was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, while the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented to Cal Vola of Bubble Force.

In the Community Service categories, Harveys' Swiss Chalet earned the company award, while Christine Koszarny accepted the Sandra Gray Community Service by an Individual Award.

Two companies – Gelderman Landscape Services and The Dream Centre - were recognized with the Business Growth and Development Award.

Chamber awards included the Past Presidents' Award, which was presented to Jason Small and the Chamber of Commerce Service Award, which was presented to the Rotary Club of Waterdown.

Two Waterdown District High School business student bursaries were also announced; the recipients this year are Jordan Lee and Meghan Soave.

The OBA gala will be broadcast on Cogeco Channel 23 Saturday, April 9 at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. The final broadcast will be on Saturday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m.
