OPP catch fleeing suspect after vehicle crosses 403 median into oncoming traffic and crashes

The OPP have charged a 20-year-old Hamilton man with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident after a series of incidents in Saturday’s early morning hours that left two officers with minor injuries.

Police say a westbound vehicle on Highway 403 near Waterdown Road in Burlington crossed the centre median and hit a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. The driver whose vehicle crossed the median suffered minor injuries and fled the scene on foot. He then hailed a taxi but was captured by police at Highway 403 near the Linc in Hamilton.

Two OPP officers received minor injuries, but police did not make it clear how those injuries were sustained.

All with minor injuries were treated at hospital and released.

A Hamilton man, 20, has been charged with impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, drug possession and breaching a recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing in Burlington.
