A female senior was transported to hospital with minor injuries from Centre on Barton on Sunday after a temporary barrier wall for renovations fell over and struck her.

Initial reports to emergency workers were that a sign made of drywall fell on two people. But paramedics transported just one elderly female to hospital out of precaution there might be neck and back injuries.

Staff Sgt. Greg Doerr said the incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. in the food court.

The temporary wall, put up because of renovations being carried out behind, it is about 5.5 metres by 3.5 metres, he added.

The woman was the only person injured, he said.
