New case of COVID-19 brings total to 3 in Hamilton

Hamilton and Halton have two new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to five.

There is no information yet about the new case in Hamilton except the person is self isolating.

Halton's case is in a woman in her 50s who travelled to the United States. She was tested at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington and is also self isolating.

The new cases announced Saturday by the province come after a flurry of area cancellations Friday in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

There were no new cases in this area Friday.

Hamilton and Halton's first case — a 32-year-old Juravinski Cancer Centre oncologist who lives in Burlington and travelled to Hawaii — was announced Wednesday. On Thursday, health officials said two more area residents tested positive: a 52-year-old Hamilton man and an Oakville woman in her 40s. Both had recently travelled to the United States.
