2 more cases of COVID-19 bring Hamilton total to 17

The province is reporting six more area cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 25 in Hamilton and Halton.

Two of the new cases are in Hamilton including a man in his 70s who went to Mexico and a woman in her 30s who travelled to the Caribbean.

Halton has four new cases and all but one have been connected to travel. The final one is still under investigation and hasn't been determined yet.

The Halton cases include two women in their 50s who were in the Caribbean — one of the two was also in the United States.

A third woman in her 50s has close contact to someone who travelled to the United States.

Halton's last case is a man in his 40s.

All of the new area cases are listed as self isolating.

Provincewide there were at least 212 confirmed cases as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, up from 189 Tuesday.

There are now 3,380 cases under investigation in Ontario.

This area's 25 cases include 17 in Hamilton, seven in Halton and one that overlaps both areas. Of those cases, one is in Waterdown after a TD employee tested positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Hamilton public health said COVID-19 is now spreading in the community as one case here can't be traced back to international travel.

Seven of Hamilton's cases are people over 60, which is a higher-risk group. Hamilton also has a three-month-old baby with COVID-19.

At least two of the baby's family members also have COVID-19. At least five of the Hamilton cases are connected to cruises.

As of Tuesday night, all of Hamilton's cases were self isolating at home with none in hospital.

Hamilton is holding a virtual town hall Wednesday at 7 p.m. that will be live streamed on Cable 14 and the city's YouTube channel.

There is no in-person attendance at the event.
