Parting words

Opinion Nov 30, 2012 Flamborough Review

I am now in a nursing home and have decided to end my letter writing.

But I want to thank you for being so generous over the years in letting me voice my thoughts. It must have given you lots of practice parsing my sentences and adjusting my grammar – thanks!

One more observation before I retire; I am very surprised at what is taking place with the teachers’ union. What they are doing – or not doing – is beginning to sound like bullying and dictatorship.

At one time, I was supervisor of personnel and safety for a company that had a supposedly tough union. The communication and cooperation I got from them was excellent. The key word is cooperation, and we actually listened to each other without being vindictive.

One very interesting thing is the lack of input from the parents. Aren’t they worried?
