Guy Brown school council leads the charge

Re: Board, parents seek solutions to overcrowding at Guy Brown

I would like to comment on the article regarding the accommodation pressures at Guy B. Brown Public School.

The article provided a lot of great information about an issue that is affecting many families in the Flamborough community. However, the article states a parent “kick-started the meeting by emailing many members of the school board.”

While I do not doubt this gentleman contacted the board, I want to ensure that our community knows this meeting was the result of the amazing effort that our school council has put forward for months.

Kelly Hrycusko and Lynda Newkirk have given an enormous amount of their personal time to spearhead talks about this issue with the support of Emma Sharp, Deanna Nixon and Jeannette Macfarlane. It is through the dedication of these women and the enormous support of Principal Kelly Rizzo and Trustee Penny Deathe that this meeting occurred.

This problem is of concern to most parents at Guy Brown and I am sure many have called the Board to complain about this issue, but no parent’s effort can come close to comparing to the effort of these amazing women. Thank you ladies for leading our charge.
